Turn Signal Fuse Blows When I put Into Reverse
Not to sure what's going on but when I put the car into reverse it blows the fuse to the turn signals. Anyone ever have this problem? Thanks

BMAN,
I've encounter similar problem before and here is my suggestion to find the source of the problem. Remove both back-up light bulbs from sockets and activate the back-up switch (ignition ON). Then turn signal switch (left or right). At this point if everything is normal (no busted fuse), then proceed for next test; install back light (left) and check for turn signals. Both turn signal working? Repeat test by installing the second back-up light. Let us know what you find. Tony |

Tony, Thanks for the tip... I'll do that tomorrow. When I think back what I did because it was working just fine before. I changed my gear oil and I accidentally opened the bolt on the diff to the right which I thought was the fill plug and to my surprise it was spring loaded and man what a pain to get the bolt back in there with the spring. Do you think that would have anything to do with the fuse blowing?

I had a problem with the tail light fuse blowing intermittently which was eventually traced down to the mechanical switch I put in for brake lights shorting out.
Anyhow, while troubleshooting my problem I came across some information about the reverse light switch connection between the chassis and the gearbox causing a short that will blow the fuse which is also tied to the turn signal circuit. The problem was the connection or the wiring can come loose/stripped and short out when it is disturbed during engine removal/reinstallation. I don't know which bolt you undid but it definitely sounds like it is causing the reverse light circuit to short out. Hopefully other will chime in with exactly how to remedy the problem. Good luck!

I fixed the problem... The driver side reverse light terminal was touching the metal cover where the bulbs are so every time I would put it in reverse it would send 12V to the cover (ground) and blow the fuse.

A strobe, really! I installed a 3rd brake light which is LED from Kragen inside above my rear window. It works great and I got the idea from someone on Pelican.

I have the small 3rd light on the back glass but I needed some else to catch their attention and the strobe will sure do it. Now, I don't know how the police will like it but I guess time will tell.
