Oil cooling early 911!!!!

Can anyone out there please offer me some advise, I have a 2.4S car and just about to
drop in a 2.4T engine (why I hear you all ask).

The car has oil pipes set up for an 'S' so full oil cooler pipes to the front wing etc.

Can I just hook up the 2.4T to the same system? I need to change a couple of pipes
but guess as I have all the 'S' gear already in place it seems like an easy option.

Will the cooler work with the lower output 'T' engine or am I just waisting my time??

Please help!!!

You should be able to hook up to the existing external system with the proper oil lines. The engine displacement should not have any effect on the oil cooling system, and as long as the external thermostat is present, your smaller engine will run that much cooler. The S may have a larger oil pump (?) but the 2.4 should be fine. BTW, what type of cooler is in the front--trombone, brass row, carrera, or aftermarket?

Thanks for that, I have the OE serpent/trombone oil cooler in the front wing.

I've heard that the thermostat may not work that well, I guess the oil will just circulate
though the tank anyway if it dosent?

Goat...

The 2.4 is not known as a hot running engine to begin with! I have 1973.5T with an external oil cooler that has a clogged or malfunctioning thermostat unit mounted in the passenger side rear fender well. Obvioulsy its not working because the pipes running to the front cooler never get hot. All I use on my 2.4 are the Heet Sheets and the Cooler Collar. Combined these give me a needles width or so of temperature change on the gauge in this Atlanta summer heat. Even with my new AC system blasting, I never get over 220!

The 2.4 is a great engine. If you have that large external therostat check to see if its working as many get clogged and stay clogged. If your pipes running forward are very hot to the touch, your doing okay and even better then okay.

It should work fine with the 2.4S oil lines and thermostat. The trombone is not very effective as compared to the radiator-stye fender coolers, but it should be sufficient for your 2.4T engine.

In that case I may be looking at clogging the thermostat. You might
have heard English summers are like winter time in many other parts of the world.

Thanks for the message

Speaking of summer and winter

Mark Twain is wrongly credited with saying "The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco"

No one really knows who made this now famous quote
