Window frame & regulator
I just finished refurbishing my passenger door on 83 SC Coupe. Ever since I bought the car last year the power window would not go down (well it would move an inch or so but that was becuase the motor torque was flexing the sheet metal). Once I got the door apart I was able to free up the rusted pivot pin on the cross arm so that the regulator worked as it should. Lubed everything and replaced the window felt since I had the frame out.
When I have the door open the window goes up and down fine. When the door is on the half latch position I can see that there is a hestitation about an inch and a half from the top of travel. With the door fully closed the window binds at the same spot and rarely makes it past that point in either the up or the down direction. After a lot of fiddling around with the two bolts on the bottom channel of the crossbrace (for parallelism) I still had no improvement. I'm starting to think that the frame is distorting slightly against the door seals as its shut and the window is binding on the now different frame but no amount of futzing around with the 7 frame attachement bolts is giving me any positive results. Is there any particular order these bolts need to be tightened? Opening the door just to roll the windows up or down may not be a good idea at highway speeds!
