Starting Problems-AC Compressor Bracket Removal-Did I Mess Something Up?

I read through the posts on starting issues and I am still having problems pinpointing my problem. I think I may have created the issue while removing my AC compressor bracket.

My 84 Carrera started fine last night and I drove it to the local Home Depot. When I came back out of the store I attempted to start it with no luck. I had lights and all of the power equipment worked. I could also hear the starter clicking and fuel pump running. I got a jump just in case, but the car would not turn over. After getting a ride home, I went back out and replaced the DME and checked all of the fuses and relays, still no luck.

I removed the AC compressor bracket over the weekend. It was a real PITA to get out. Last night was the first time I drove the car since taking it out. In the process of removing it, I had to remove one the plug wires, the air box and I loosened the bracket which I believe holds the fuel injectors. In addition, what I think is the fuel accumulator ( located beside the passenger side of the fan) took a slight beating during the whole process. After a great deal of tugging and pulling on the part of the bracket attached by two bolts to the intake I was able to get it out. I have a feeling that I must have damaged a connection somewhere during the process and that is the cause of my starting problems. As a side note, I did get the car to start last night after tapping the distributer cap, pulling the plug wire and reinstalling and wiggling the plug on the fuel injector.

Now the car is failing to start again. Can anyone provide some suggestions on what to do next to get my car running again?

I think I may have discovered the problem. I read "stranded 911" and went through some of the steps including checking the electrical connections at the injectors with a meter. Pulled the distributor cap and replaced. Nothing.

I went in to the smugglers box as I had removed the fan and condensor a week ago and thought I'd continue to retrace my steps. I wiggled the connector ( not the one for the fan ), thought I heard a click near the fuse box. I turned the key and the car fired up?

What is this connector for? There is some sort of regulator in the line as well. Could this loose connection have caused the problem?
