Porsche Crest Help.Going to smog check my 76 911

Does anyone know someone that they trust & that knows how to handle their Porsche for smog testing? I had Tom Amon put the Cat back on for this years smog test. He leaned it way down to .02 on idle and 1.3 at 2500rpm. But this was not under a load. I have an 83 3.0 which has a referee sticker. I had heard someone failed the smog test because the tester put it in 3rd gear, as oposed th 2nd while running the load for testing, causing the fuel to become richer causing his 76 to fail.
I live in the bay area ( Antioch, Ca.) Any advise?
