Question Is a connection missing??

Hello all! Can some one please tell me if I'm missing a hose, or if these two parts are connected together by the same means? Right side of engine.

BTW, i know i will be torched for asking but, what is the part in pic #2 and whats it for? Could not find it in my Bentley manual..

Send a message via AIM to Gogar
Your Pic #1 is the "Decel Valve" for 80-83 SC models. It's function is to let the RPMs decrease more slowly when you let off the gas. A lot of people disconnect the vacuum line because then you've got more control over your own life during shifting. Mine was disconnected, too:

Is this "Auxiliary Air Valve", and should I . . . . . . .

I want to hook it up someday just to see what it's all about, but no hurry.

Your Pic #2, I don't know. Someone will. Where is it?

Pic #2 is the charcoal canister for the fuel ventilation system. Nothing connects to the part you are referring to in the pic. Two hoses connect to the rear of the canister, one from the fuel tank and one to the intake.

BTW I cecked out your homepage, nice car, do you have pics of your interior? I think the brown looks good, Ive just never seen it in a red car. Why do you want to change it?

snbush67, thanks for letting me know it's a charcoal canister, mystery solved. The original color of the car was brown, the second owner (the person whom i purchased the car from) painted it G-R in 86. I like the brown as well, but for some reason i always lean towards black. I love G-R! if i can afford to repaint the car i think i will stick with the g-red...
