find a pro engine builder around here that knows about your engine. In my original CIS 2.7 & dizzy i knew that the advance was adjusted to meet smog regs with the vacuum canister. I disconnected the hose permanently and only used mechanical advance. I set total to 35 deg. Not only did it run better but it also ran a bit cooler. I have no experience w/3.0, but i just might try running mechanical if it was mine till i had further curve info. I would guess track pelicanheads might know but I've never seen the issue mentioned one way or another. I've asked about 2.7 & 3.0 recurved info but never received an answer. When i installed carbs i knew i had to do something so i installed a 2.7 RS dizzy that has a steeper low rpm curve and a high initial of 10deg advance. Even carb guys that had their carbed engine's dizzy recurved never replied to my asking what their curve was. it's one of those black holes around here. good luck

Check the throttle linkage on top of the engine. You may not be getting full throttle either because the bushing is worn out or because the linkage isn't adjusted correctly.

+1...before all the other suggestions are implemented. Fast throttle response feels like hp.
