Am I Asking To Much $ 4 930 Roller
wondering if 25g is to much to expect for 88 930 roller in the classifieds? The pictures really dont do the car justice. I dont want to be unreasonable, but how much would someone spend to duplicate? Any help or sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

I saw it in the FS forum and thought it was pretty steep. I do see that it was setup well and I'm sure you invested way more than that.
You would have to find the 1 percentile that has a spare 930 motor playing around. |

It's always hard to get good money out of a roller - even a nice, shiny red one. The market for drivable cars is much larger than for projects.
Check what complete, running 930s sell for and price accordingly. One on ebay right now, #170128577731 (has some body damage) One recently sold here on PP for $21k. It sold within 4 days. Others on here are listed for between 35 & 38, but have not sold. If you're near Charlotte, ask Exclusive Motors if they have any leads.

Too much. Without knowing exactly what you have on your roller and over condition, this is just speculation but I would think someone would have to put $35+ all in to the project to have a completed car. There are plenty of really nice turn key 930s around for that money.

A good turbo motor is $10k openers. installation and tuning ~ $2k, then there is always some risk that something isn't right which won't come to light until the car is running and driveable. What is that risk worth?? say $3k. Then there are miscellaneous parts say a couple $k.
I've seen nice 930s go for $20k to $30k. Subract out the above costs and you are at $10k or less for the roller. Part it out. OR Buy an engine, have it installed, tuned, dyno'ed and provide complete documentation. Sell it for $25k to maybe $35k. If the '88 930 has a factory 5 speed, add $4k or $5k in value across the board to the value of the car. I can't remember if '89 is the first 5 speed 930. Doug

The car is a 9 out of 10 by anyones standards. Clean accident free one previous owner car, 44,000 original miles only 1,000 miles on mods and paint. I originaly had the car built for the One Lap, but stuff comes up and didnt get to participate. All the bugs have been worked out at Mid-Ohio race course. Then put about 1,000 street miles on it. The only thing the car needs is an engine and tranny. The engine and tranny are available. Big turbo & intercooler, carrera manifold and all the exspensive stuff top to bottom 567rwh at 1bar. Andial 4spd complete rebuild$$$$! So better w/or w/out? Nearly 35gs in engine & tranny(help)

It would be hard to part and make over $15k. You may be better buying a stock motor and building it yourself.

The motor belongs to me, or should I get a 3.3 to put in it.

Your better off to put the engine/tranny back in and sell it complete. You can't consider any car a 9 out of 10 if it has no engine. The engine in many cases is over half the value or more of these cars. Not being overly critical. It is just simple facts.
Good luck with your sale.

Sounds as if you have EFI. If you have great documentation on the engine, you may want to trade it for an otherwise stock drivetrain with cash. This way you could make some money on the engine and sell the car complete. One need only look at the sale of Derek Cooper's 89 convertible with a $40,000 engine build for low $30s to realize that you will rarely, if ever, get you money back.
Good luck, JP

Looks beautiful but I seriously doubt anyone will give you close to $25k for it. It would be easier and cheaper to buy a complete low mile 930 and do the same mods to it. It would sell a lot better complete, very good looking car though.

Well fellas I suppose I'm going to lower the price. You dont know how hard that was to say. I'm going to try 16,000 and see if I get any bites. I'll keep it before I sell any lower. RSRFAN; It is an EFI w/seventh injector, have all dyno's documented, w/video & pics also pics of complete tear down and build. I geuss I'm sentimental about this. It was my first big build.

I wanted to do a RSR replica, like the black&purple one in Excellence. I have a 73 with the metal turbo flares in good shape. No rust or bondo. It would be crazy fast considering the weight to power ratio. I'm starting to like that retro look. I was also thinking of puting the 930 back to factory look; still have the parts and adding the Lindsay Racing 17 Fuchs. It all costs money unfortunately.
