3.6l clutch conversion part #'s

i have a 70 911 that i bought a 95 993 engine for. i have the wiring, mount, exhaust & other pieces except for the clutch. i am going to use the 95 993 g50 trans i got with the engine. the bellhousing is not been shortend, but if need be i have the ability to do that. i know if i dont shortend the bellhousing i will need to cut the torsion tube.

this is my question: what are my options for lightwieght single plate clutch, pressure plate & t.o bearing. i am not looking for a phone number to a vender to call, i am looking for the part numbers and original application if possible. if the flywheel wieght & disk diameter is availble, that would be a bounus. i know there are vendors that have these items on there shelf, but the mark up is crazy, and they dont like giving out the part numbers & loosing a sale. i can understand that, so this probly goes out to those people that have paid the big bucks & are willing to post or email me the part numbers. even if the parts are aftermarket thats ok. let me know what your experiance has been with the clutch feel, bite, durability etc... i know this is lot to ask, but isnt that what these forums are for?? thank you very much in advance for any help, input or info you may have

greg

Hi Greg

Cant help you with part numbers but I did look into the 6 speed option recently and my searches on this board took me to this thread:

Fitting 6 speed G50 to '89 Carrera

Dennis seemed to have made the most progress but he is still not finished. I PM'd him and he replied with an update and some pics, I dont really want to post that here without him knowing but PM me your email address and I will forward it onto you.

Good luck with the project - a lot of work to make it fit, I decided against taking it on.

Its not just the bell housing, the g50/20? nose and mount is very different from the 911/ mount in the '70 chassis

from the left early G50(5speed), 915, 911, 901

The 6spds are even longer w/ an even more different mount
G50/21 6 speed

It can be done but there is a lot of fabrication involved.

I would maybe look for the lightweight RS clutch for '95. Bill probably can answer the tactile questions about the clutch.

Relative to Porsche, it has been my experience that vendors' parts are often cheaper than the factory OEM parts. Goes for brake rotors, body panels, etc, etc. I suspect it will go for clutches. You could explore with Patrick motorsports. He also does the bellhousing shortening. He probably would tell you what you need to know. He does make conversion flywheels.
