ID this 2.7 engine, Help
Hi,
I have been looking in every books but can't find this engine number anywhere. From the picture, it looks like a normal 2.7. Could you help ID this engine please? Thanks

According to Brian Long's Definitive History 6550001 to 6551800 are a 911/44 1975, 160hp fitted to California markets manual 911s and Carrera for 1975, and on Japan manual 911,911s and Carrera

Yeah there are a few ommissions/errors in red book.
the engine looks like it's in a black wide body US car, what's going on there? cheers

Shane,
The car is 75 US. spec and was converted to the RHD. It wasn't mine but is for sale. I just want check out if the car has an original engine on it.

the VIN number you show says 1975 911S for US market and is a coupe, production number 2303.
911= 911 5= 1975 2= 911S U.S. 0 = coupe 2303 = production #

Wow! My heart skipped a beat when I saw that serial number, as I've got 9115202304. Engine number is 6551695, however - so they are not sequential like the chassis numbers.
