new 911 owner

Hi there i just bought a mint 911 targa (dream car) after years of dreaming of them now i have one.this is my first porsche but i have been a tech for gm for 20+years.The car has some oil leaks such as the sender for the oil tank and the
right side has a leak that is landing on the heat exchanger.I cant tell if the timing chain cover is leaking or the lower cover,it drips on the clamp for the heat exchanger near the rear of the car.

i was hoping i could drive the car for the rest of the year but i cant stand the leak. Are the timing covers known to leak on these?

thanks Brian

Welcome to the forum. What year Targa??
The leaks can happen from any cover, but if new gaskets are put in and proper torque applied, it should be good and dry. I am chasing a similar leak myself! Please post a pic of this new machine, as is customary for new members.

i figured some one was going to say that

the truth is i havent taken any pics yet ,i hope to this weekend.i just got in from working on it and hope to have it driving by saturday.I had to make the gasket for the sender and should have the valve cover gaskets tomorow.

the car is a 76 and was owned by a old man that just got to sick to drive it anymore and sat in the garage for a few years till i got it .i drove it home and to work to put it up on the hoist and that is it.

That's crazy talk!

You can honestly say you've got a new 911 and you haven't taken any pictures?
