Weber rebuild question...

Hi everyone,
I'm rebuilding my webers and following along in the 101 projects book. I've measured the float like it says in the book at 18mm and then measured the the needle at 18mm as in the book. My question is... what about the thickness of the gasket? Do I have to allow for the thickness or has that been figured in already? Do I have to readjust the float for the thickness of gasket ( approx. .030 ) ? Thanks

Having just done this last week...

I was following 3 books as I did this (Haynes Weber book, Haynes 911 book, and 101 Projects) and none of them said to compensate for the gasket...so I didn't.

Seeing as this is my first rebuild of webers, how critical is the measurement of the floats? Could I be a few thousandths off in either direction without any ill effect? Just want to make sure before I button everything back up.

Everyone of the 'experts' always comment about how critical this setting is. A few thousandths?

Follow the prescribed settings and double check before buttoning things up. You should be OK.

I assume you're referring to a mechanical measurement of the float relative to the top casting.

If so, I would suggest an actual measurement of the fuel level when the engine runs. For that, you need the PMO float level gauge (or two) that screws onto the threaded drain hole of the float bowl.
