Door lock microswitch replacement
I'm pretty sure the microswitch that activates the door lock solenoids is defective (in the driver's side door lock assembly). It is intermittent and will work awhile if I inject some electrical contact cleaner into the lock. Eventually though, it stops responding to the key and I can't lock the car. Other aspects of the locking system work OK (lock/unlock from center console).
My question: How involved is replacement of the microswitch? Can it be done without removing and disassembling the lock? Thanks, Jeff |

It may not be the switch but a short in the wire leading to the switch, check carefully the white wire is not binding or snagged to ground. this will give you intermittent contact.
The switch just (removal of the panel too, a bit time consuming) requires removal of the handle assembly and swapping out the switch. Routing the wire is the most critical as not to allow it to snag on some moving part. Jim
