I ended up buy one real cheap on ebay, lucky. He had 3 and I took the last one, less than $40.
As for mounting, the mouting bracket to mount the relay to the motor body won't work. I had to take it off because the headlight won't come down comletely. I finally switch the relay to the opposite side of the motor, took off the relay mounting backet (use zip tie), and also took off the rubber knob cover.
The reason I took off the rubber knob cover is because it'll block the hole on the bottom of the HL bucket. In any case you have to lift the light manually, you can't stick your finger in the hole to turn the knob. My other side HL didn't have this cover and it's still good until now. When I was trying to lift this side up manualy, I cut myself so bad and took me a long time to be able to rip this cover apart and took it off. I am thinking of engarging this hole (on the HL bucket) and put this rubber cover back on.
Also, since everything is up side down. I think I will make a hole on any rubber cover (relay cover, motor cover).

Let's see some pictures, if you dont mind?

no I won't but I will have to take open the light up to take pics. I have not taken any pic inside there. Give me some time.
Basically, it's setup diff than the one in your pic below. The motor doesn't mount to the arm as on yours. it mounted to another bracket, the bracket is mounted to the bucket. The arm which spins, is mounted to the flipping part of the light, so when the motor spin the arm, it push the light up/down.
I will post when I have pics ready.

930 Slant conversion headlight issue

Gents,

Been lurking and registered - excellent thread. Thank you.

I've got an 83 cabrio slant covert. My pop-up headlight won't stop running- continues to wink up and down. Light on driver's side runs continuously, pass side stays in correct position.

I've the same RX7 conversion pieces as Akira, except that my headlights are rectangular.

Wondering what you think my issue may be. I've replaced the Dayton ice cube relay under the hood already with no effect. I've inspected the pass light assembly and removed plastic cover - cam and motor assembly are pristine and look like it should work! The relay ND relay was inverted (righted, as it were) to shed water properly, but does look a little rough.

Curious what you opinion might be for what my failure is. thinking to replace the ND relays in the buckets first, then I guess the complete headlight motor assemblies.

Sorry for long email.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1298914661.jpg

I say go the route I am taking, ditch the motors & go with fixed lights.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1298915573.jpg

Your car looks great! I am going to try and repair. I've now replaced the small ND relays that are in the headlight buckets to no avail. The problem is the motor continues to cycle continuously on "on" and when turned off, it stops where it should in the down position. May have a wiring failure. The "up" stop, whatever that is, is apparently not being triggered.

Anyone have any ideas as to what triggers the "up" stop position? I know there are rotating timing triggers inside the headlight motor, but they look mechanical only and pristine. Any idea much appreciated.

Yours,
Collim

Any chance you might still have the wiring diagram?

Please more pics and description. How did you do the light setup Thanks Frank

To all: Are there some Pelican threads on Slant nose conversions?

kycarguy 935 03-03-2011 03:35 AM

Geneman, here is one pretty good thread on building slants. The original poster removed much of it however, but still some good info.

If only that was my car! The Black car you see is an example of the conversion to fixed lights with the Fiat turbo coupe lights. The Fiat turbo's are not available in the US. I have a set of lights I got from the UK. As with all my other projects for my 930, are waiting installation. I also heard guys are using the RX-7 lights.
