New front and rear window OEM seals
My new front and rear window rubber seals arrived from Pelican today. I compared them to the old ones and these new ones are very small compared to the old ones. The outside sealing surface is almost 1/2" narrower on the new ones. I checked the part numbers and they are correct, but these OEM seals just don't look right. Before I even try to install these I would love to hear from someone that used the Pelican OEM gaskets, as opposed to real Porsche window seals.
thanks, John |

Update: I tried using the new OEM seal 4 or 5 times. There's just not enough rubber to get a good seal. It's just too narrow. It looks like the OEM seal is just plain made wrong as compared to the old one. I reinstalled the original seal this morning (thank god I took it out carefully!) and it went in first time perfectly, (trim included), as if it was factory installed. So much for OEM parts...

I've always heard that windshield seals should be bought from Porsche for that very reason. The only one I ever needed was ordered from the dealer and it was the correct size.

This issue has also given me a lot of frustration. I ordered oem seals for all of my windows from pelican and the rear window and windshield leak. Called pelican and they said it was because the installer did not properly stretch the rubber around the window. Turns out that was bs because in comparison to the original rubber, the new seals are thinner. Guess I have to just eat the cost of the crappy oem seals as no one wants to take responsibility for selling crappy parts.
