Ok, so no flame session here but....

Ive been thinking about anodizing the centers of my recently brand new Fikse's!

I did this in photoshop just to get an idea.

Any thoughts?

I didnt photoshop the rears for a comparison.

I like it.. adds a different flavor to that Mexico Blue.

Almost reminds me of the ol'skool BBS wheels!

Hmmmm. I like the gold/polished lip, but I like it with white. The color of your car is so perfect that I think the gold detracts. I look at the rear and the "all-silver" seems to "flow" with the car, where the gold/polished lip really "grabs your attention" and focuses your eyes on the wheel, not the car.

Gold never did anything for me back in the day either, Go Platnium :-)

But as far a s color coordination, I see the Amber Head Lights and Markers would match the Gold.

Hmmmmm....MUCH better than I woulda thunk!

I have grown to REALLY like Mexico blue on the later cars. Before seeing this I'd have said if you're gonna change Fikse's (heresy I tell you!) to go with a darker sort of "anthracite" gray color in the center with the polished lips but this gold looks pretty damned good.

So here is another. My only concern is that anodizing is transparent. Do you think they will be too blingy?

Here is another pic with front and rear photo shopped.

NICE!
I have always LOVED gold wheels on older 911's.. It reminds me of the BBS motorsport racing magnesium wheels.. I have some older BBS RS with the gold centers.. I scored them CHEAP because no one likes the gold anymore.. good for me. like everything..
from the 80's.. it's all becoming the race again well not everything, but a few things like gold wheels and I feel SLOPE nose 911/930's will be the **** here in the next few years.. I LOVE the gold.. go for it!

Looks really good to me. I'm not sure if they'll come out as reflective as in your photoshopping, and that's probably a good thing. Do it !

Okay let me be the dissenting voice in the wilderness. I owned a Mexico Blue car in the mid 70's. One of my all time favorite colors. It's an intense color though and IMHO doesn't need or benefit from another color like gold. I would go to clear headlight lenses and to avoid excessive bling (if that's a significant concern) I'd consider frosting the wheel centers with an RSR type finish or a silver gray anodizing like on some of the current BBS wheels....

The first pic is my 79 911 SC with gold anodized Fikse wheels.
If you want the gold centers the orange 993 has BBS Motorsport wheels.
The Cayman pic is a little different gold center.

If you're asking if it's too blingy then it is.

Your opinion is the only one that matters but, for what it's worth, I think your car is going to get plenty of attention without the gold rims. Why tempt fate!

I like the frosted center idea. I like the gold centers, too. As long as the whole wheel isn't gold, I think you're in _ _ territory.
