What does this button do?
I'm looking at a 911, and I'm trying to identify some unknown parts. In the first picture, is that some aftermarket internal speaker by the window switch? It's on both sides. In the second picture, what is the button between the AC knobs? Also, what do you think the thing on the dash is? I assume something w/the radio. Any help is appreciated.

Aftermarket speakers in the door panels.
Looks like an aftermarket alarm light between the 2 A/C knobs (80's Clifford alarm?) Remote for the radio (??). Hopefully just there by double sided Velcro. |

It would help if the pics were a little bigger, The shop where I worked when I was in college had an '84 carrera come in with a "no start" issue. We were about to come to blows arguing with each other over what it was when we finally found the most godawful alarm installation ever, the new owner was detailing his car and had accidentally flipped the aftermarket alarm's kill switch. one was behind the A/C knobs, and the more hidden one was under the seat. It could be anything though, I've seen brake light/taillight cutoffs located there, etc...
These are really good questions to answer before buying a 911. The tweeters in the door wouldn't bother me that much, but finding out what, if any, electronic butchery the car has undergone could be very important. Without a closer pic of the dash (remote maybe) I really wouldn't hazard a guess.

does the button have any icons or pictures on it?
THe thing on the dash looks like a remote for the radio, maybe velcroed to the dash.

Good eye! I was too busy noticing the cover plate was missing on the door lock knob.
![]() (I think they hit 100% on the punched tweeter grill, switch & remote)...I was going to attempt to say the switch was for the "oil slick release".

Yeah, I hope that door pocket thing was a joke. Did you catch that the door lock knob is busted, too?
![]() I thought it was a tweeter, but I'd never seen one up there. He must have poked out the holes himself. The remote makes sense. I guess I wasn't thinking that, as I still think it's a dumb idea. Seriously, it's a foot and a half away. As I zoom in on the picture, I obviously lose clarity, but it does look like a red LED light, as opposed to a switch. |

The switch between the A/C knobs is the location for the central locking, but that doesn't look like the factory button.
