newbe stupid questions

I have a 76 targa that i just bought and have some questions.
#1 bump steer?is this normal with these cars? car is all stock and no play in the steering.
#2 speedo not even close or am i just realy speeding all the time?it seems to read high
#3 the right side has heat all the time and no heat on the left when on defrost.
#4 what size tire and rim can i put on the car with out the wide body.
#5 turbo tail?just for looks or does it help cool the engine at all?

i know i have more but i dont want to ask too much at once.

1 - some is normal - get an experienced 911 driver to drive your car and see if it is normal - also look at the rods under the front of the car -- are they parallel with the ground?

3 - get under the car just ahead of the rear wheel and see if the heater boxes are both open at the same time - they have slice-of-pie shaped slots in them.

5 - it does help cooling some & does help at 80 mph and over. I don't like the way they look and don't use any tail on my car. You can swap to a regular lid if you want, or install a motorized pop-up type from a 964.

2) Porsche seems to prefer to error on the side of reading too fast rather than too slow. Most folks tell me their speedo reads faster than actual speed. My understanding is that 5-10% off was accepted. Find one of those annoying "Your Speed Is..." Radar signs on the interstate and check your speedo to the sign. Do a search on North Hollywood Speedo - they can fix it if it bothers you.
4) Are you wanting taller or wider tires and rims? What are you trying to achieve: handling or looks? There are a lot of posts already out there on different size options.
6) (Yeah, I know, there wasn't a #6) You need to post a pic of your new baby. Its a tradition around here.

2. Measure the dia of your tires. If they are just over 25" then they are the same dia as stock and the speedo will be 5% optimistic. Back in 76 the car would have had 165/70/15 all around.

4. I have run over the years 195/65F and 215/60R on 6" wheels. These are close to stock dia and fit fine. There seem to be fewer performance tires in this range these days, however, so I recently went to 205/50 on 16" rims and like them. They are just over 24" dia.

As someone else said. You have to define your driving style and requirements, then get back to us and check other threads. Everything is a compromise. You also should be aware of your ride height when determining this.

1. Shouldn't have a lot of bump steer as your car has not been lowered. All have some, though. Bump steer increases when lowering and you may want a bump steer kit when you do.
