Supertec MFI Enrichment Device

Anyone running the supertec enrichment device on there cars? Im looking for options for the control lever. In the instructions it suggests the heater control lever but I dont want to do this as I want to retain heat control. The other option is the hand throttle, as ive not had much experiance driving an MFI engine im not sure how needed this is? Alternatly I can rig up some other lever or pull style device like a carb choke control.

Steve

I don't know how helpful this will be as I don't have the Supertec device. I do have whatever cold start enrichment system was installed by the previous owner, and it works perfectly. The priming switch was wired in to what was the windshield wiper fluid switch. It's just a toggle: on/off. There's no progressive capability like there would be with the heater or throttle lever.

One thing to consider with keeping the throttle hand lever is that you can actually use it like a very crude cruise control for the long, dull, straight drive home on the freeway after the track (or whatever; that's just how I sometimes use it). Set it carefully and it'll hold highway cruising speed surprisingly well. The only trick is, hitting the brakes won't turn it off, so you still have to be vigilant.

Hi I think your confusing the cold start solonoid with the enrichment device. The solonoid operates at start up and is operated electrically hence the toggle switch and dumps raw fuel into the intakes. The enrichment device works off warm air from the heat exchanger and gradually reduces the mixture on the pump as the car warms up. The supertec mod does away with this and uses a cable control rather than a thermostat.

Got it. I had a feeling they were different. Thanks for that!

If you need heat and still want to run the Supertec enrichment device you just need to add another lever next to the stock heater lever. There is room and it will look somewhat stock.
Good luck.
