Want a racing channel that isn't Nascar - speak out

Here is a new channel trying to get off the ground that is like Speed channel but without a nascar focus.

Porsche supercup and the like.

http://www.theracingnetwork.com/

They are looking for a show of support / interest. Go to the site and vote yes.

I voted and got this response: We already have a response from your household. Thank you!

I have never voted and I'm certain my wife hasn't either!

Use your throw away email addy if you vote. You never know what they will do with the list while in need of start up money. I'll watch this channel if D-TV carries it and that's it.

Gee Andrew, I like Pinks.

Just kidding. But it is better than Oprah.

If you're on dial-up or DSL with PPoE, someone else probably voted from that IP address.

Much less likely with "real" broadband (although these can still change their IP's, it usually happens on a scale of many months rather than per-connection).

Just try again and move on if it says the same thing..

There's nothing wrong with NASCAR, I've been putting my motorhome in the infield since the Calif. Speedway opened in 1997.

Personally, I enjoy just about all forms of auto racing except European dirt rallies.

its not that I hate NASCAR, but 30-40% of SPEED's programing is NASCAR. I would rather watch

porsche cup, rallies, auto-xing and the like. NASCAR fans have 4-5 others channels to get their fix

and the rest of us have only one.

Instead of the 100th rerun of yet another Pinks, I'd love to see reruns of classic (Non-nascar) races. Hell, reruns of ANY F1, Le Mans, ALMS, etc. races, classic or not, would be better than the same shows every single night.

Another Amen if we can get WRC coverage..

...and more sports car and vintage event coverage. We used to see Goodwood Festival of Speed, WRC, sports car racing, Legends of Motorsports ( historical stuff), Paris-Dakar rally, Targa Newfoundland ( or Targa New Zealand)...etc etc.....on SPEED before they went totally NASCAR.

Now it all dumbed sown into Unique Whips, Pinks, NASCAR and anything else that caters to the mass-market ( Fast and Furious set..urghh !!)

This is exactly the type of stuff they are talking about. Even club racing events.

They have that bit about changing cable provider to get the channel. I say that is just positioning to sell the idea.

If the channel finds an audience, every cable / sat operator will pick it up.

I voted for it. I have said for a long time the market could stand a Speed 2 like ESPN 2.

They could bring back the stuff they used to show. WRC, MotoGP, Superbike . Australian V-8's
etc.

PLEASE...anything but Nascar. More sports car racing, club events (PCA, POC and like) and, especially vintage race events would be great. Cost effective? I doubt it, but either was Speedvision at it's humble beginnings.

There was a big topic on this awhile ago........I still will never understand the popularity with a car that is not produced, but thought to be produced by a whole lot of people
I brought this subject up several times with folks from bar rooms to hotel lobbies. They were all sure this is a Detroit race car!!
