rdane ~ all I can say is 'wow'; what exactly is the story with the single blade car? year? upgrades? its a pretty sick looking vehicle! (sick = groovy in the modern vernacular for all you old p-car guys!)

My 74 is RHD. The wipers park on the right hand side from factory.
I think it is part of the Australian design rules.
I would be happier if they parked on the other side.

Well, some of us are more vertically challenged than others. At only 5' 3" tall and a 28" inseam, it REALLY helps my field of vision. I look through my windshield ALOT more when it isn't raining than when it is, so it's worth it to me.

I actually bent both arms in the opposite direction. One needed to be bent only slightly, and I bent the other one to appear like the factory angle, only in the opposite direction. I really like the look, and well, it really is a safety feature for me...

Evidence of my height can be seen in one of the pics Mark (aka Aerkuld) posted of us at Petit LeMans a couple of weekends ago.

Thanks Uber I built it a couple of years ago as a street rod for the local hill climbs. 3.6 from a 993 in a 2230# car built on a '79 SC. Lots of go fast parts, custom tranny, new suspension, fiber glass body parts, and one off metal work. All the details and a test ride in the June '07 issue of EXCELLENCE.

Of everything involved with this car the reversed wiper was one of the best mods for actually driving it. I am 6'1" with the Pole Positon seats extremely low mounted.

rdane - do I remember correctly that you used a longer than stock wiper blade on your one wiper setup, or am I confusing it with another car?

Does anyone have the Porsche part number for the right hand drive wiper blade?

That will be the curved one as the straight is the same as the left hand drive. I once had the number but lost it. It's much easier to obtain that part than bend a straight one to fit.

Also, you can remove the clock, loosen the cam nut on the wiper gear drive and rotate it 180 degrees to accomplish the reversal. Just make sure you have the both wiper blades off when you reverse the cam and operate the wipers and let them settle before reattaching the blades in the new reverse posiiton. Then pull the blades back to the off the windowposition and with the hood closed test to insure you have accomplished the task correctly. Or else, get the paint sprayer ready for a cowl redo.

I've reversed the blades like this before and will appreciate getting the part number again.

I did Jim. Can't remember if it is 17 or 18" but much bigger than the original 14s. I just bought a few blade sizes and used the biggest that would fit the wiper's arc.

Yes. Don't forget to close the hood before operating the wipers. Wiper arm... meet hood.

Don't ask me how ............

I guess I didn't understand the book. I thought the wipers rested on the right side for US cars and on the left for Euro cars, and the switch would make a US car look like a euro car. Just like the ride height.

Boy do I feel dumb!

I am the guy who says don't do it.

Here's why.

Yes that is SNOW. On a '66 911.

Why do you guys keep your cars out of the rain, so the next owner can have a rust free car?

They changed them in '69. Here's a family portrait showing the difference.

The single reversed wiper. I love it. I use a 15" blade and bent the arm slightly until the pattern was where I wanted it.

Rain?

Oh, I remember - those water drops that occasionaly fell out of the sky before the drought.

I miss that. It was so much fun driving so fast to blow the drops off the front window!
