Is he the guy who made the 915?

Hello,
A friend bought this 1985-86 U.S. spec. Carrera 3.2 today.
The car was converted to the RHD. long time ago.
We took the car in to our mechanic for the inspection and found the embossed message under the 915 transmission next to the 915 code number.
Has anybody seen anything like this?
Thanks
Burint

Kinder means "children".
Built means "built".

Kindergarten
Kinderbuilt?

Nazi sympathizers on the 915 assembly line?

That does not look like German writing. Best thing you can do, is to grind it off. It doe not belong there.

+1 to Dave. Visible location or not, I just couldn't drive around knowing there was a swastika etched onto the car someplace.

I will tell to my friend to grind it out or I will do it myself.
I apologize for posting and made people feel uncomfortable.

I don't think you made anyone uncomfortable (well, not me at least).
It was a good question to ask, and you got some valuable answers.

You are better off knowing than not knowing, and better off grinding it out.

Somebody with a lame sense of humor. I'm sure it was scratched in long after the car left Germany. I'd grind it off.

Alfred Kinderbuilt was a young man from Bremen. Talented but somewhat misguided. After school he landed a short gig at the Porsche plant in Stuttgart. Was fired after a brief period due to several complains about him tagging a variety of engine and gear box cases with symbols PAG for previous years had struggled not to be associated with.

Markus, please tell me you are kidding. I have family in Bremen and will be there in early November.

Well, Dave, maybe it was the next door village. Not to worry though. He was last seen on a boat to South America.

Family in Bremen ? Any relations to the famous Grimm brothers ? Mighty fine story tellers and scholars. Born in Hanau, law eduction in Marburg. Among many others wrote a story called something like The Musicians from Bremen.

Welcome to Europe and be prepared to bring warm clothes and umbrellas grandes!

You are referring to the Bremer town musicians. I have a little statue of the donkey, dog, cat and rooster on my entertainment center. My moms sister and family actually live in Lilienthal - think Otto - a village outside of Bremen.

Tough subject for me (WWII). No worries, I am not offended, but I am sorry someone decided to deface the 911 tranny in that fashion.

Dave

Burint,

I am sorry that you found that mark on your tranny. Whomever did that, really needs to be flogged. Erase the mark and drive your car in good health and have fun with it!!!!

Dave

I am sorry about that, Dave. I did not realize your relation and emotional disposition toward WWII. I was simply trying to 'de-dramatize' the imbecile scribbling on that tranny.

I agree with the others. There are jerks everywhere! Don't worry, you didn't offend me - the idiot who put it on your car on the other hand ...

Interestingly, I typed "Kinderbuilt" into Google and got zero responses! That's never happened before!

Aside from that, that does not look like a US spec car. Wrong rear bumperetts, side lights on front fenders.

Does the build date on the door jamb match the scratching on the trans?

...and the little winky face after the post usually means someone is kidding.
