Tire Feed back please.

I had an issue with a near new tire in the last couple days now doing a new set, have been reading but would love some feedback from users.
Car is 71, running 6 x 16 wheels, current / previous size = 205-55 16

I am looking at Dunlop Direzza DZ101 because they have a 215-50 16

Or the Conti. DW in a 215- 55 16,

There are more options in the 215 55 but I am not sure I want the additional height, looking for some more width, as the car sits now with the 205-55 16's I am using 8mm spacer on all 4 to fill out the wheel wells nicer, so I know I can fit the 215, I doubt I can fit the 225-50 16.

Any feed back appreciated, I need to pull the trigger in a day or so max.

Regards

I had a set of Conti DWs mounted last week (along with an alignment). So far they feel quite good, though I haven't driven the car enough to really be able to judge.

FWIW, you should check the actual tire size as opposed to the listed size. I have 225/50-16s on the back and they're definitely narrower than the Pirellis they replaced (which were the same listed size).

Use this: Tire size calculator to see different tire sizes compared to what you have now.

PabloX, are you running the tire on 16 x 7 or 6"??
Can you report back with a true tire width as measured.
The same "smaller" was reported by Draco A50G in this thread ( 225 Tire Width NOT the Same??? )

I like the Conti and tire of choice would be 225-50 16 IF it will fit, current 205's measure at 8" I am running 8mm spacers that gives me another .31" away from the lip if removed I can measure inside clearances, strut wheel well ect on the back side and see what i can fit The therotical width on the 225 is 8.86"

Would like to know what the conti measures at.

Por_sha, thanks for the calculator, my problem is the actual measurements VS therotical.

Thanks for the help.

You can find a whole table of tire specs on tire rack.com turns out one company's 205/55 can be up to .4" different from another's.

Poking around the various sports car forums, the winner seems to be the Dunlop Direzza DZ101.

Thanks Tech, i have been doing that but many of the tires dont list a tred width.
I said I am pulling the trigger but no real rush going out of town friday do want ordered prior to that.

The car still needs some ride height love, hav accumulated most stuff just have not had time to get it done, Bilistine struts raising to 19mm, 22 & 26 hollow T bars swapping to al cross member, al trailing arms, running 20mm front sway, adding 19mm rear. Need to pick / buy bushings, the rest is in the garage.

Edit: also has the Wevo trans beam and engine mounts, has a strut bar, but I really want the Wevo Camber mister set up when doing the suspension this winter

I may play it safe with the 215-50 16 DZ101 the ride height may add issues to the 225-50's, Pic of the car as it sits, less some of the black trim

Thanks to all, will wait a day or 2 to order, let me know what you think.

Regards

My rears are 16x7. If you want, I could try to get a tire width measurement.

Pablo that would be a help if you get a chance, on 7's would be worst case (best for most) the 225-50 does list 6" rim in the range.

Thank you again

Ok, hopefully I did this correctly. I held a combination square so that the stop was on the inner sidewall and measured to the outer sidewall. I got a hair (maybe 1/16) over 9".

Pablo, thank you that is the number I need, the therotical width is 8.86" there is some wiggle room for the 6 & 7" rim difference but 9" is most likly a good number.
I will do some measuring tomorrow and see how it looks.

Thank you!!
