75c shifter fix.....

There was no spring action whatsoever.
75c bungee. Has just the right tension!
Until I get the new shifter, this works a treat!
I just might make a few fancy looking ones and sell them for $50.00

Carbon Fiber $10 extra.
I could write "TUNER" on it for free.

On a more serious note, is there a possibility that keeping tension on the shifter when it is in gear would lead to accelerated gear wear?

If you make a "Type R" one, I'll bet you'll sell 'em by the truckload.
