weber question?

My 2.2T developed a miss in the rain last week, now we could really use some rain here. Anyway, I was checking the carbs, when I removed them I found a gasket glued on the bottom of the rear 2 throats and none on the front throat. Is this normal? I thought it might be some sort of Weber/Porsche guru thing, but it seems to me it won't let the carbs seat properly. Is that correct?

hey, gary, long time no see

yes, there should be gaskets under each barrel, 6 total. there should also be 6 between the manifolds and heads. PMO has them. sometimes steve g. and black forest have them. just make sure you tell him the correct diameter, ie 32mm or 36mm and whether or not you are using MFI heads or carb heads.

good luck

Matt, hope everything is going OK.

I didn't explain myself correctly. In addition to the required amount of gaskets there were 2 extra on each side glued to the bottom of the carburetor on the aft most barrels and not one on the front barrel. Just curious if this is an old carb trick.

I have never heard of such a 'trick'.

Unless somehow the manifold had gotten damaged/warped and this was a 'shade tree' repair? Check with a straight edge perhaps. The manifold bases should be flat/level ...as should the carb. bases.

Three holes... three gaskets. No additional ones.
