wheel finish suggestions please
Decided to replace my 15" wheels with 7 and 9 inch by 16 fuchs
I want to match the grey carrera script. ![]() What would be the best option for looks, long term durability and cost? Here are the current 16" inch wheels which are in great shape!: ![]() silver paint the centers on the 16" just like the current wheels? ![]() Ship them off to Al Reed and go with Dual anodized? ![]() Ship them off to Al Reed and go for RSR style? ![]() My gut tells me Dual anodized for long term looks and durability.....

I vote for the same finish as the old wheels to match with the grey script. I think it is a fantastic look.

Hard to beat Al Reed's dual anodized, but at a distance the silver paint looks great. Either one would look good with your script. Which brand paint did you use?

The fast and easy is send them to a local guy and poof 500 bucks and 3 days later the centres are painted
The other option is to ship them across the continent wait a month or more, spend 600 bucks all in and have Al Reed quality to brag about Whatcha think?

sandblast them. I spent maybe 15 minutes a wheel. masked off the outer section then blasted the petals and background. then clear-coated the blasted portion. would match your decal nicely.

just redid the math after talking to Al Reed's shop (really nice folks by the way)
Now I'm looking at $1000-1100 including shipping and handling to SOCAL plus I would have to deal with the postal and border beaurcrats and idiots and wait for weeks and weeks and weeks..... So $500 for the set professionally painted and ready in 3 days is the winner Thanks for weighing in on my personal debate. Its always nice to get other folks perspectives

It's not that hard to do. I re-painted my old fuchs with crappy tire black satin. The prep work took the longest. I scuffed the old surface, primed, and applied several light coats of black. It cost around $40 in material and a few hours of my time.
If you can get the paint code for the car I found a paint supply store in west Toronto that will match the colour in a spray can.

Kilodawg,
Your car has always been an inspiration for me. LOVE the look! I think you made the righ decision, although that double anodized was looking pretty hot too. I am still debating doing something similar to mine one day but in a platinum instead...

Kilodawg might not want to hear that since he just sold it to twobone the lucky guy!

your right!
I am lucky and Kilodowg was and is a real gentleman to deal with.
My job is to keep the car looking as good as it is and make all of Southern Ontario jealous! This proves that if you wait long enough the right car will come up for sale

Glad things are going well...I think you made the right choice on the wheels too and will need to see some pictures when you get it done....Well off to Rennsport...
Oh and this was a win win for both twobone and myself: ![]()

go to www.roadsters.com and see what the application of Gibbs penetrant does to aluminuma nd magnesium. Certatinly would be the least expensive solution...
