What Oils Are Shops Using?

If you are a shop owner or pro shop tech ((or if you are sure what oil your shop generally uses on 3.2's) it would be nice to see . . . In other words, while I know they could use your choice, what sits on shop shelves for regular use in 3.2's?

A couple I know here in LA area use Castrol 20w50 . . .

Others . . .?

Swepco 306 15W40 and Brad Penn 20W50 are being used by some of the best 911 shops I know of.

John:

We are using-stocking Swepco 306 & Brad-Penn racing oils.

There are also some full synthetics that we in race motors use for the more well-heeled such as Mobil 1 V-Twin and Joe Gibbs Racing oils,..

Based on my volume of e-mail & telephone calls about what oils to use, I'll say that this subject is not well known industry-wide, as of yet. There are many shop owners who have no knowledge of the oil re-formulations over the past 36 months and continue to use today's oils, such as they are.

This may well be a financial windfall for the automobile repair industry,.......

I just had this conversation with Dave at TRE last week. He is still trying to determine what to do and which oil to use and recommend. Frankly, it's disappointing that it appears we will no longer be able to go to the local AutoZone or Pep Boys to get a quart of oil but, as an old friend would say, it is what it is.
