Polished Wheel Proctectant ?

i have a set of completely Polished Fuchs that I would like to have "cleared" so they will maintain the almost Mirror finish.

Anyone know what can be sprayed/applied that will last ?

I've heard of a few products but nothing that was Long lasting.

Im sure there is something that can be applied to maintain the finish, .. as seen on many new autos w/ Polished wheels... I.E. Corvettes (top of mind)

I've seen polished Fuchs that were clear powder coated and they looked really good.

We were across from Chemical Guys Mfg at SEMA. They produce and bottle for major wax companies and have started selling their own brands. They had a product called Rim Wax. I was skeptical and was talking with the chemist, he started talking about the composition and then lost me. He ended up giving me a sample to try, which I haven't yet, but it is supposed to be good for polished aluminum, chrome, powdercoated, etc.

They claim you only need to apply it 2x per year and it helps to repel brake dust, dirt etc and washing is supposed to be much easier.

May be worth a look.

Al Reed clear powdercoated mine about four years ago after the lips and petals were polished. The finish is still perfect and they never yellowed or got clouded. Cleans up with just a spray from the garden hose.

Clear coat or just wax - per Al Reed - you will lose about 10-15% of the luster by clear coating.

I just polish mine every 3 months.

Steve, have you got a photo of your wheels after being Cleared via powdercoating?

I have all sorts of products for polished wheels to "maintain" the finish, but I want something that will be a Done deal, as I am using my car everyday now and the elements eat into them alot.

Anyone else w/ photos of Powdercoated Clear on the Polished wheels.?

Here is some of Al's work, clearcoat. After Years of polishing rims, I opted to go minimal black fingers.

I know it is a finished process, in that, if you polish your rims & go through the clear, you will have to continue to polish to get that bling.

With non powder type clears the brilliance is reduced by approx 15%.

Wheel Wax has been around for years and does a decent job of protecting the polish.

IMO, Powder clear is the way to go for a good look and minimal maintenance.

Bryan, those look as good as the ones you had!
Funny you should mention Zoop Seal, I was just looking at that on Eastwood's website and was thinking of getting.
Especially since I just did my wheels too.

I just use Blue Coral Mag polish 1 X a year if that and wipe dirt and dust off. The polish leaves a protective coating that seems to last. Available at most auto parts stores. My wheels are polishes only, no CC or powder.

I like the idea of the Blue Coral.. I suppose you Completely polished them first and have only maintained them with this product? Do you use any other products in between the Blue Corral?

If you guys are talking about on going polishing. I have polished rims since my first car with a set of American Libres. The easiest method or polish I have found with the absoulute best results is a 2 part polish, acid wash & polish, that is manufactured in the LA Area called............................................ ..
