Need recommendation on track wheels

I want to start running R compound next season which means I'll need a set of tarck dedicated wheels. This si for an 81 SC.

Anyway I'm looking for strong and reasonably priced. I love Fikse etc, but these are way too expensive. So what are my options - I'd love to stay under 1000 - 1200 for just the wheels ane be able to run 225 s up front and 245s out back.

Thanks

Jeff

Keep on eye on E-bay. I found 7x9x16 OZ Racing wheels for about $600. You can often find BBS wheel for about the same. Besides strong, you also want light weight.

I have been using these rims on my RX-7 for the last 3 years and like them a lot.

You can get two 16x8 rims that weigh 14 lbs each and cost $248 for the front and 16x9.5 rims for the rear that weigh 16 lbs and cost $260 that would put right at $1016 for all four. I have had good success with these rims and plan on getting a set for my 911 soon as well. I have been running Hoosier slicks on my RX-7 but plan on a DOT tire for both cars next. I am considering Kumho Victoracers. Its an AX tire but wears well on the track and sticks like a slick.

Good luck a good set of rims and tires will make a huge difference on the car.

They are a bit higher than $1200, but we can do these for $1500 in 7x9.5x16. Forged centers and the shells are 6061 aluminum. Double spun and brought up to T-6 hardness through 2 heat treating processes for optimum strength and durability.

What offsets are available, how do they compare to the CCW's, and what do they weigh? I need something in a 9x17 and 11x17

The wheels are built to spec (a build sheet specific to you car will need to be filled out), so we can pretty much get any offset/backspacing that you need and they come in 1/2" width increments from 6 to 14 inches.

The 17" wheels, depending on width are around 17-18lbs. The centers are made by the same group that makes the CCW centers, but I don't think CCW uses 6061 for their shells.

For a reference point, a set of 10x12x17's would be under 2K.

Here is a couple other styles (the wheel pictured above is the RT)...

S-5

Nice rims Mike, I like them much better than the looks of the Circle ones. I really do not put a lot of emphesis on looks over function but I have to admit I am willing to dole out another few hundred bucks for a set of these. I just added to you to my buddy list and will look you up when I am ready to buy.

Nice weight on those - and they look nice too.

I found a set of BBS wheels - 16 x 8 and 9 off a 930 - same offset as my 951 8's and 9's... for $700.

16.4 on the fronts - 17.2 lbs on the rears

Look on ebay - try the turbo forums - try pca -

Seem like you don't read your PM here. Do you have an email address or contact #?
Thanks.

One very economical option is to find a set of pre-'86 7x8x16 944 phone dials. The front are a direct fit up because they have the 23.3mm offset. The rear require a spacer but the stock 930 21mm slip on spacer fits perfect and the wheel is positioned just like a 9x16 Fuchs would be in the wheel well. You will need a 21mm longer stud and with less than 2hrs work you can have the whole thing assembled. You can do the wheels, studs, and spacers for ~$550. I have a set as rain wheels for my track SC.

Try Jeff Alton on the Board. They are Kodiak Wheels, and he's a dealer who will get you the best price!
