Another 3.6 VRAM SC winter project

I feel a bit of deja vu since there was another 3.6 vram project that just completed. However, I thought I would share mine since it is being done here in the states and will be smog compliant when I am finished. Here are some of the initial photo's:

The SC currently missing an engine

The future SC engine:

I take it you are in the early stages right. The power steering pump is still on the donor engine. Have fun, Ingo

I plan on documenting the whole swap picture by picture step by step right down to going to the smog referee. If this is picture overload please let me know. Here are the tear down pictures:

I am building it myself. I am going to try to document it to the n'th degree so that it could be almost a step by step how to do the swap. I am getting technical support from Jim Patrick though. I have done a lot of engine swaps including 912 to 911 engine. I have just never done non dme car to dme car before. It would be a heck of a lot easier to drop it off at Patrick Motorsports if I was still in Az. However, I dont think the swap will be that difficult.

well I think Brian is still talking to Jim about building some emissions legal exhaust systems for you.... and I think your neighbor? Maybe we'll have something done by the time you are ready for it.

That would be GREAT! If anyone can figure out how to stuff a muffler behind the 993 Cat those guys can. I mean if Patrick motorsports can put a vram engine into a 356 I have no doubt they can find a creative exaust I sent off my cat and computer on Saturday for them to modify.

Now I have to ask... Who is this you must work there to know that I told Jim I was worried my neighbor would blow a gasket over the straight out the cat idea.

Yeah, I am the fabricator there. I didn't really do much with your white car (it was mostly done by the time I started there) but you did give me a ride before you took it home. Don't worry, we'll make some kind of bad-ass exhaust. That's a problem that needs a solution for sure. I just need to find some time to spend on the project. We are pretty busy

Nice work there Larry, soon you'll be able to post pics like this:

Still haven't driven mine yet Just found out from a specialist that my clutch issues are down to a faulty pressure plate!

Can't you just jam it between gears using a firm hand? Only jesting of course - it's good to hear you've isolated the source of you clutch problem. Be sure to let us know what it's like to drive when you get the beast up and running - I just can't wait to hear about it!

sorry to hijack thread.

Nice project! I for one would like to see a fully-documented pictorial on what the swap involves, as I don't think one has been done before.

One little hint though, and please don't take it amiss: You have been shovelling the pics out so far, but maybe a bit fewer pics and further text explanation of each one: what you're doing in each one and why it's necessary.

Maybe a little blurb about what problems you anticipate, how you plan to solve them. Looking forward to a great thread, and good luck with your project!

[in my best Napolean Dynamite voice]... DAHNG...

I hope I can do this swap someday. Not sure it will be in my cab, but sure would be cool to have that power in there. Looking forward to your steady progress. Good luck with it!

ARGH! sorry to hear that. I am running the same clutch and pressure plate in my 74 and will be running the same in my SC. Yours looks great though.

I appreciate the feedback. I should go back and edit what the purpose of each picture is.
