Points or no points?
I have a 72 911 w\points and a CD igniton. I have seen a kit that installs in your distributor cap that gets rid of your points. Anyone done this and can it be done on my car. Or, is it a waste of money? Thanks

You won't see a performance increase. What you will get is one less thing to fuss with come tune-up time. The points on CDI are simply a trigger. They do not pass any significant voltage so they don't burn. What does happen though, is the rubbing block wears down and gradually closes the point gap, changing dwell and timing. The pointless conversion eliminates this. You can always carry a set of points with you to convert back if the new set-up fails. Whether it is worth it is up to you to decide.
