Noise in front end of car
I have a 1989 Carrera, there is a noise in the front end (sort of a squealing) that has gotten a little worse in the last week or so. I know it is not the front wheel bearings (I replaced them because I thought that was the problem, no change). The noise goes away if I touch the brakes. Probably a hint, could it be a sticking brake piston in the caliper not letting the pad come all the way off the rotor? Any help out there??

I was about to post the same question. My 86 Carrera is doing the same; it feels as is one of the pads is touching. I checked them and do not look worn out, my guest if one of the retaining brake pad clips. However, I did not pulled them, if the pad material is cracked (must remove to see) that might be casing the problem.

Either a stuck caliper or you have some foreign substance in between the pads and the rotor (on a typical car, I'd say you are down to the rivets on your pads). How many miles since your last brake job? Can you pull a wheel and check things out?

On my car it was the A arm bolts that broke off the welded inserts in the pan:

Joe, did yours stop making the noise when you touched the brakes or was it just at low speeds...?

Same problem, mine goes away when I touch the brake pedal. I have about 50 other squeeks and rattles to track down after this one

+1 on the calipers. Buy a kit and rebuild them. This is a very common problem.
