I haven't had any luck finding covers for my fog lamps. I want to keep my stock lights but need to find protective covers. "No longer available" on Pelican...

Wayne on this board has a thread on some headlamp protection he used on his 959. We offer pre-cut urethane protection for fog lights and headlights. Available as a complete kit, (headlights and fog lights) or separately. We are the exclusive distributors for Hella 128, 139, & 169 fog light covers and can supply you with these urethane covers for your 911 fogs as well. Self installed and can withstand a 1 inch diameter rock at 100mph. Also prevents sand blasting from road debris. They are virtually invisible and you don't have to worry about removing covers when you need your lights.
Regards, Charles

Here is a cover source, but doubt they will have covers for stock lights. I have changed my out to Hella 450's. Die cut urethane covers are probably the way to go if you want to remain stock.

Charles,
1. Do you have ones for stock '84 Carrera fog lights? 2. How much would they be? 3. How would one go about purchasing a set? Thanks, Chuck

At one time I had a pair of plastic covers with BOSCH printed in white on the faces. Keeping my stock lights is my first choice, but I'm in the process of replacing my front valance and thought it's a perfect time to refurbish the fog lamps and upgrade the bulb wattage (strength) to convert them to driving lights (not much fog in the Arizona mountains). Making that upgrade would be great but I want to protect the lens' this go round. Charles' suggestion about the clear urethane sheets is looking like the best possibility but still makes stones a major concern (we got plenty of those in the Arizona mountains).
Too bad something solid to cover them isn't available. I'll keep looking. Charles: I'm checking out your website tonight. Thanks

Regarding covers for an '84. I don't remember which year Porsche went to the fog lights that are integrated into the spoiler? Before that they were the Hella fogs that sat below the bumper until 1983 I think? As far as the concern for rocks, especially below the bumper line, we have shot an air rifle at a headlamp with our protective covers on them. No effect! It actually dents the material (the dent goes away after a couple days) but the glass lens is left undamaged. Fog light kits are $16.50 plus shipping. H1/H4 covers are $24.95. Send us an email if you are interested. 356, 912, 911 w/ fogs really need this protection and when installed they are virtually invisible.

75Carrera--if you want to change the 'fog' to driving lights, you will need to change the glass lens, not just the bulb wattage. ie the stock 'fog' lens is fluted, whereas you'll need a non-fluted lens to get the pencil beam effect of a 'driving' light.
Bench--do these covers come in different colors? eg yellow to place over the fog lights?

Yes, the material is available in colors and Amber is available. They will change the color of the beam but know they will not miraculously change the lens from clear to amber (you will see the different color cover at close inspection. Clear will appear invisible and very hard to detect).

MIK911, Thanks. Do you know where I might find the "non-fluted" lens'? Charles' clear covers for fog/driving lights and my H-4s should be perfect. Do I reach the retails site through Bench-Racing or Pelican?

Just so I am playing by the rules of the board, I looked and Pelican does not sell the complete or partial protection kits for your fog lights. You can order direct through us as this is not one of our regularly listed items on ebay. Are your fogs integrated into the front valence or hanging below the bumper? Do you want the headlamp and fog lamp covers or just fogs? Our contact information is on our web site or email us using the address below.

I am in need of cover/protection too - had something blow through my left lens yesterday and am bummed there are not more options out there. I never use the fogs, and am surprised its taken this long to break one, but now that I have, I'd even consider removing them rather than breaking them again...

Great idea, sounds like a Project #102.
My 4 year old just got a new supply of said tape, so after reading your reply I ran out and put some YELLOW painters tape over the both the broken and unbroken lenses for the time being. This way I can pretend I'm doing a track day or autocross rather than hauling around the aforementioned tape-packing 4 year old ![]() Thanks -Todd (http://www.darthracing.com/1986porsche911rearshoulderbeltconversion)

Just use the film that I used on the 959, we carry it - it's made by 3M and is real easy to install...

I wonder if the film would stand up to hotter wattage bulbs for a driving light conversion? I don't really know how bright you can or should go for effective road lights?
