Carpet kit PHOTOS

Im looking into changing the carpets in my 71 car. Can you guys post pics of what you have and a short Description of the Material.. I am not too fond of the stock Perlon (felt style) and thinking of loop pile.

Thanks

BUMP.. Any photos of CUT PILE or LOOP Pile in your cars..

Im considering going w/ Grey Loop pile even though I know it was never offered in a Pcar.. I just think it looks better.

... What've you got?

I recently did the entire carpeting and door panels on a 1986 Carrera.

If you want some pics and the details email me at: porsche@wi.rr.com

P.S. Or look at the the thread I posted here titled 1986 Carrera interior re-do.

Know you are not a fan of Perlon, but received a couple nice words about this job. This is in a '73.

RSBob, I like it. Thanks for posting since I'm researching replacement of my original carpeting which is getting a little worn. Who's is it. Thanks

Here is one of the pages from my new interior install on my 1987 Carrera.

Interior project on my 87 911

This is probably not the kind of carpet you are looking for. It is the German Carpet Kit from AutosInternational in California.

(I may be about to help you spend more $$, continue reading at your own risk)

Before I put new carpet in my 72T I got rid of all the old insulation, it was quite a job... worth every minute and ounce though.
At that point I knew there were no rust issues lurking and I decided on spraying the floor and sides with Quietcar sound proofing. I'm very pleased with how it turned out, it did cut some road noise and the application (with the sprayer) was easy. I put three coats on and before I covered it with carpet, it looked like this before/during:

And after application/before carpet:

The insulation in the rear seat area alone was a good (no, bad) 20-30 pounds).

DJDSC.. Is that LOOP carpet or a Pile? Hard to tell bc its black.

Skip == Looks Awesome.. How was the sound difference from the Original mat to your Spray?
Where did you get it, how much was it, whats it called?

ANYONE with Grey - Loop and Domestic Pile?

I'd say the road noise is reduced by 20%, the doors close with a little less "ring" and the good news... I can still hear the 2.4 MFI sing just fine. (Partly because I did away with the engine bay sound proofing mat, and partly due to installing a Dansk Sport muffler).

The stuff I used is called Quietcar coating:

That is the Perlon sold by Appbiz on evilBay. It is not 'correct' in that it is not a match for the original (not as thick, no snaps for the tunnel, and no vinyl edging). It does appear to be good quality, fits nicely, and is lighter in weight. I used a 3M spray adhesive #70 and used it on the carpet back as well as the area I was adhering it to and it worked great. A tip I picked up from my searches, is to get a piece of chalk and outline the where the old carpet lays, so when you fit the new stuff, you know where it needs to go. Also make a list of the order of the pieces you removed, since there are several which overlay one another.
