Great Scott!!!! Solution for gauges(El-glow)

Finally after about 6 months trying to find a solution for the bad visibility of my guages at night, from led kits off ebay from other gauge companies asking about $500 for leds! lol.I decided to take a crack at myself with help from a custom gauge shop. If anyones interested in purchasing some email me at viper4490@hotmail.com. And these gauges will be made to order so please be patient.(note: In the last picture the gauges are blocked because of the steering wheel)

interesting... how much does the set end up being? Are they doing the swap, or they just send out the goods?

I would be interested depending on cost. The only problem I see is that the needle is not being "back-lit" so you would still have to use the stock lighting behind those overlays to cast light on them. Might look weird with the two different kinds of lighting combined. Will they do them in blue (like the late model VW's)? I had some in my Miata the I did like the look.

Yeah the needles are not lit. Cant really tell from the picture but with the new light from the gauges you could see the needle just fine-not perfect but satisfactory. and yes we could do them in any color.. Also there are glow needle kits you could get. Im thinking about doing them. Im just not looking forward towards taking apart my gauges again.

$210 if I get 10 sold and if I reach 20 for the group purchase theyll be $190. I have 8 people now that are in for the $210 price.

I think maybe if you had some nice clear night time pictures (use a trip-pod, show all the gauges clearly), without the word "viper4490" written in a crazy font in bright red covering all of them, might help. Also, I can't see the needles AT ALL. My $.02

+1 on need a better pic. That pic makes the new setup look no better than the old one, if not worse.

wow come on guys. Dont cameras focus on light? I turned the flash off. I dont think cameras have night vision. And you know we humans can slighty see in the dark when our eyes adjusts- I dont think the camera can pick that up. But I see the needles just fine and if your old and cant see well that needle kit will work fine lol. I'll try to get a better picture up though

To get a good pic of those gauges at night, you would certainly need a tripod but also a camera that has an adjustable shutter speed. A 1 to 3 sec exposure should probably do the trick. (e.g. digital/film Nikon or Canon 35mm SLR)

There might be a feature on some of the digital cameras that will do this that are not SLR's. Some of the cheaper digital cameras may compensate already but they don't keep the shutters open long enough is my guess.

Serious thought if you'd really like to sell these gauges. Get GOOD pics.
