Front turn signal replacement question

One of my front blinkers is on the fritz, I think. I have a spare. To replace/swap it, do I really need to drop the entire front bumper, as instructed by the Bentley manual? Seems like a lot of work for a little thing.

I have an '87 Turbo, with the stock front bumper and valence.
