Unhappy Having trouble shifting

I am having trouble shifting. I can't get the darn thing in 1st gear or 2nd. It's like the left side of the gear box is not there.
Can start out in 3rd and make it to 4th and 5th. Any Ideas?

I had the same problem and it was the shift coupler bushings. I was going for 4th gear when it broke and instead I went into 2nd. Now that will get your heart pounding! The bushings are only about $20 and are easy to replace. For the mean time however, you can use a small piece of PVC pipe with rubber on the outside for a snug fit. OWrked for me!
