SC with a Dynomax
I finally got the muffler bracket welded in place and the exhaust leak remedied. Thought you all might like to hear a clip of the finished project. There is some resonance at 2000 rpm under load, like when you short shift first gear in town. Not a good practice, but my car seems to be between 1st and 2nd in the subdivision. It quickly disappears and by 2500 it raises in pitch to a note that is not at all obnoxious. The setup is an 81 RoW with backdated exhaust and a 2 in 2 out Dynomax 17725. I am very happy with the sound and to me, it is only slightly loud with the windows down when stomping on it with a car next to you... although, it does bring a goofy grin to my face. Total project cost about $120, not including the broken head studs found when I kicked the project off.
Sorry for the lack of light, it gets dark here way too soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZX-9qi1ii1o

Sounds great to me. I like the 'tone' alot. Sorry for the ignorance, but what is a backdated exhaust? SSIs or headers, heat or no heat, etc.?

Backdated exhaust is the term coined for using pre-1974 heat exchangers. These are pretty much SSIs, but not in stainless. The SSIs are a little better in construction, and supposedly give a little more power. I chose them because they were less than half price over new SSIs. I was on a budget...

Tsunamiboy,
I was referring to the muffler and the required flanges and mandrel bends. The backdating project was $500 for early HE's and the oil line. I didn't discuss the HE cost figuring others may decide SSI's or headers etc. I was offering a listen to the beer budget muffler project. Total project with head stud replacement, tools, HEs, and muffler was about $1500 or so. I kinda lost track because I bought a bunch of other stuff while I was at it; plug wires, plugs, sunroof gaskets, etc.
