Porsche Crest '78 SC engine rebuild question

Hey, I'm thinking about buying a 1978 SC, and the add says that the engine was rebuild 8,000 miles ago. Car is from Oxnard, CA with 157k miles on it, new paint and all... I think its pretty as heck! ...anyway, I currently own a 2001 Boxster S and was wondering if I should change the oil in the carrera as soon as i get it, and on the same or on a similar schedule as the Boxster S? I know old flat-sixes leak a bit so I just wanted to ask thanks a lot!

Merry christmas-
Chris

Wow, nice color.

Changing the oil now to me would be a good idea. You can look for shavings(god forbid) and possibly spot any other potential projects.

Wonder who in Hawaii built it, I'd be interested to find out.

"Rebuilt" is a term that can have many meanings.

Send a sample of the current oil to Blackstone.
For $20 they can tell you if there is any abnormal amounts of wear metal, if the car has blowby, and a few other things.

Seriously cute car!

Maybe get one of the LA guys like Dave at TRE to do a PPI for broken head studs or Hawaii style rust. That way you can enjoy it with confidence.
