Porsche Crest I would like to dedicate a thread of your most personal memorable Early_S_Man posts

I would like to dedicate a thread of your most personal memorable Early_S_Man posts.

My most memorable (among his many) was a reply he made to a question I asked June 8th. 2002. I’ve never forgotten his reply due to it’s detail, his walking the extra mile to post reference threads, and his specific statement that... " This kind of miss doesn't show up until summer temps above 85° F!!!"

Here’s the excerpt from the thread: 6-8-02

My question:

Have I burnt valve(s) (or worse)?
6-8-02

Ran the car hard today. Toward the end of my drive, I accelerated hard, high rpm. After that I noticed and felt a definite miss. Pulled the plugs, most of them looked dry, and brownish on the top, some carbon mostly on the top of the spark plug threads. No smell of fuel.

I can start the car, but very low idle, almost a stall, and if I drive, still a miss.

His response as follows:

[QUOTE=Early_S_Man;464559]Do a compression test ... burnt valves don't seal well!

Check your ignition cables for end-to-end continuity (3000 -4000 Ohms) ... high temps can lead to a miss if a Beru connector is open ... wouldn't happen when engine cool! This kind of miss doesn't show up until summer temps above 85° F!!!
Read the following threads for more info:

Beru connectors, are VW the same?

Thank you Warren Hall Jr. for your sharing and so many memories.
