I put the FVD aluminum pedals on my 83SC and just returned from a 1000 mile trip.I was having problems with my clutch pedal overlay coming off,and I also had problems when I needed to re-position my foot with the clutch engaged. The aluminum pedals solved all this ! I really like the way they look also.

Where did you get these pedals, any pics?
I have just ordered the '3rd foot' (wings engineering) and guess it is going to look a bit odd with the remaining pedals black (stock). Rgds Ben |

I purchased an Aluminum Pedal set from AJ USA and they are fantastic. I opted for the race version because I didn't want the rubber inserts. I like the AJ USA setup because the gas pedal is a complete replacement and not just a bolt on attachment. Plus the price was great.

AMG Hammer:
I was looking at the AJ-USA set, and some others, for my 91 C2, partially in the hope of making heel to toe shifting easier. Do you think the competition set you purchased helps in that regard at all? Thanks. |

I also have the AJ-USA set. The nice thing about replacing the gas pedal was seeing how gummed up the old hinge had gotten. Suddenly, it took much less effort to accelerate. Not something you think about, a lot, but it makes a difference. Heel-and-toes is much more precise (and a little easier) compared to the stock pedals.
I also got the race set. My only concern is that wet rubber-soled shoes could get slippery. So far, not a problem. ------------------ Jack Olsen 1973 911 T (3.6) sunroof coupe jackolsen@mediaone.net |

I had a set of aluminum pedals from AJ-USA on my '92 911 Carrera 2. They were nice. Now, on my '98 911 Carrera S, I have a set of aluminum pedals purchased directly from Strosek in Germany. I like these an awful lot. Get plenty of compliments.

Make that 4 for AJ-USA race pedals. They look great and are a complete replacement for the accelerator. The brake and clutch bolt on so no slipping. I have had no problems with wet feet, even with leather sole shoes, slipping.

You gotta have the dead pedal. It's a big help in training yourself to keep your foot away from the clutch, and it gives you a good way to brace your body (assuming you don't have a six-point and a race seat) in the corners.

My problem is that I have the stock pedals in my 930 and I actually have to heel-toe when I heel-toe. In my 5 speed 1985 Mazda 626 I just have to roll my foot over from the brake to the accelerator to the same thing. I'm using the left side of my foot and the right side of it, not heels and toes. Downshifts are quick, easy and precise. Does the AJ set allow this kind of throttle blipping or is it still a heel action?

Keith,
Although I am not an expert at the heel-to-toe method, I have been practicing and successful. With the AJ-USA pedals I am able to just roll my foot. But then again when my brake is depressed it is at the same level as the accelerator. I know the accelerator pedal is somewhat adjustable so even if at first installation the roll method is not feasible, it can be adjusted. -------------------- Paul 78SC Targa |

Keith,
If you are still watching this thread, I have just installed my '3rd foot' by wings technology (excellence). The standard accelerator pedal is only adjustable to a certain degree (not much!) but the 3rd foot gives another 1" of extra height if you need it!. I am still learning to use it but feel the techinique of rolling the right side of the foot onto the accelerator will still be easier than heel/toe as the foot space down there is more suited to 'Ballerinas'!. I will try to paste a pic later if anyone is interested!. rgds Ben |

Thanks Ben, pictures would be great. Off topic: I just got my Recaro SRD seats today. I think I'll be opening the boxes and sitting in them in my living room until I can get them in the car.
