What does this number mean '71S

This plate is rivited to the rear crossmember, and has the original paint underneath. Here is a pic.

thank you for the link, so my car was originally imported to Switzerland, which would explain the Swiss franks I found under the shifter, and the parking ticket from 1986 in Switzerland. Maybe the people at AMAG can give me some info on the previous owners, which could aid in my search for the original engine.

Thanks
Kevin

Kevin,

You probably won't be able to obtain any information on previous owners but will likely recieve a document from AMAG called a Wagenkarte. Here is the Wagenkarte for my RS.

A Swiss member from the Early S Reg. called them up and was easily able to get this document for me using the AMAG #.

You do can obtain all previous swiss owners if you can provide papers showing you are the rightful new owner.

You would need to write/fax to the Swiss Vehicule dept. asking for "history" of your collectors car.
It cost about $60 altough payment should be in Euro or Swiss francs.
They provide detailed name, adress, first date of registration and last date of car sale of each owner.

PM me if you need more infos- (i'm based in Switzerland-early 911s Registry 773 )
