Need help with Fuch wheel locks (no socket to remove)
I have an issue with Fuchs wheel locks.I do not have the socket part to remove the wheels off this 1986 911.I have put a message into the previous owner,but doubt he will know the whereabouts.Any ideas? I would like to obtain the right one,before removing and damaging these. I would imagine there were not too many manufacturers of these.I could take an impression and see the dealer? Any help will be appreciated very much.Identifing would be nice. Thanks.

You may be in luck; those look like genuine Porsche locking lug nuts. The dealer has two boxes of master key sockets, it looked to me to like 30 or so with corresponding numbers. It is trial and error until they get the right one. You can then order a new master key from the number. Of course they can remove the locking nuts for you too.
If not Porsche ones then do a search, there are many methods of removal most involve some sort of carnage to the offending nut from beating on a socket to welding a nut to it. Good luck. The photo is of a Porsche factory locking lug nut and the corresponding key socket. ![]()

Go to the dealer. If they don't have the correct key, they have a jig for drilling off locking lugnuts without damaging the wheels. I had this done to my SC and it cost me $75.

If that does not work go buy the snap on thief set. Thats what we used to call it anyway. It will get those off.

I made my own after I lost mine - think I left it on a wheel. Maybe not every one can do it - but if you have a mate with a lathe?
Plasticine imprint, measure the diameters, lathe up the blank boss, drill the appropriate holes and insert high tensile pins - can't remember what I used for those, but some common stock high tensile rod. Weld a nut on the back of the boss that fits your wheel wrench. Didn't know the Porsche dealer carries those - but then mine is hundreds of miles away. Alan |
