Agreed, I'll pass on OBX. I'm looking at George's European Headers or TRE, anyone used the TRE headers? Seems a good deal for $575 for stainless equal length headers:

LOL yeah they lasted what.. 3 months maybe? 2 track days... I'm sure they make other products that last, but they obviously failed on their 911 product line. They looked good out of the box though ;)

My Georges headers are rock solid and show barely any wear. TRE has a great name and I'm sure their product is good. I have one of their bumpers. hardly any work to fit it.

Yeah, they were purty, too bad the Chinese haven't learned how to weld properly. I also have one of TRE's IROC bumpers, perfect fit. I spoke to Dave yesterday and he stopped carrying the SS headers due to quality control with his supplier but he still carries a mild steel version but they are equal length for $575. Did you Jet Hot them or use any header paint? I found Eastwood carries some hi temp silver paint I'd like to try if I buy used steel headers.

For those who used the OBX headers, how have they stood up after a couple of years of track/street use? Any cracks in the welds? I read the whole thread and am not clear on the ID/OD of the long tube headers, can someone please comment.

I have a set, this is the 3rd season, 3000 miles and 5-8 trackdays a year.

I have pulled and installed the engine/tranny 3 times supporting it on the headers.

No crackes yet, I may be just lucky...

My plain steel headers were fairly decent. Fitment was good, other than one flange being a tight fit on the head exhaust studs. I had to run a round file through it and a carbide die grinder bit to open up the hole slightly.

They advertised the headers as being "ceramic" painted which was crap. The paint began flaking after one track weekend. I didn't expect much, as most painted headers shed their paint pretty quickly. But their paint was a joke. I thought it would have been hight temp paint that was heat-cured. Nope. Paint easily was nicked and scratched by tools during installation.

Ended up selling them when I bought a racecar. billjam used them on his 3.6 build and did some custom fabricating to fit them up.

Sorry I never followed up as promised with the tubing measurements on 4-5-6 header. I guess it doesn't really matter. They're definitely not equal length.

Edit.......... Here's what mine looked like after a handful of track events.

I have a set of headers that look suspiciously like the TRE picture. The are not equal length as Kevin has said. I measure anywhere from 27 to 30 inches on the primaries. The collector is also garbage. The 2.5 inch pipe is just stuck into the tapered pipe. It sticks inside about 1 inch, no smooth flow. I have modified mine by cutting the tapered piece where it matches 2.5 inches and welded on 2.5 inch pipes connected to mufflers.

Ok, they lasted another year, but now a crack in a weld has appeared... Happened during a hot track day.
Time to pull them and install the 993 HE I have on the shelf, will be nice to get some heat also....
