possible garage find...pls help w/ vin#

hi guys...

I have a possible garage find and the guy does not seem to know much about what he's got....except the Vin # 9114601031

what can we tell by this? any clues to year, model?

its got all the earmarks of a 'find' - ie, "has not run in 20 years", "no rust that I can see" - - oooh, oooh, I hate it when this happens!! sorta.

many thanks

td

Should be a 1974 Carrera coupe. The 5th digit "6" indicates a Euro Carrera with the RS type 911/83 MFI motor.

Hopefully more than you might pay for it. It all depends on condition and what's included.

I don't know recent prices but the Euro Carrera's have been steadily increasing recently.

If it's really a 74 euro carrera my guess is about 15-20K thinking it needs a complete rebuild.

Dig a little deeper. The engine should be a 911/83 and engine number starting with 6640001 to 6641456.
It could be a good score!

Best of Luck. I hope you score on this one. Post results and pics of the car and how it is found. Everyone loves a good "barn story"

Well, that covers a proper 911/83 motor. What about the rest of the car?

Congrats. Could be something great. But check it out thoroughly before proceeding. There is always some sort of disaster that parks a Porsche for 20 years -- personal or mechanical. Then there will be the story about how it got into the U.S. which should be interesting. Post the engine serial number. If it doesn't have the original ROW engine...

The link bleow is from the Nada pricing guide, $56,850-$131,775, that's for a good running car though. Definitely a find if it's what it is suppose to be. Good luck.

Since the guy doesn't know much about it I would say well north of $200K.

Please tell me this isn't on Craigslist? Very similar "barn find" thread from a few weeks ago turned out to be a scam.

early 1971 911 "in a barn" what's it worth?

is this the AD?

Orange/black. Has been garaged for 20 years. Does not run. This should be considered a project car. Vin # 9114601031. I believe it is complete and doesn't seem to have any rust damage. $6500 or best offer. don't have ability to take pictures. With a little work and cleaning, this would be a very presentable car again.

Someone spilled the beans. Here's the current ad:

Update: I'm told what I have here is a Euro Carrera with a 2.7 MFI motor 911/83?...news to me. I have had emails sent to me of similar running cars having sold for, or for sale for anywhere from $60K to 100K. Could this be true?

I need to do some homework tonight, but will be able to show the car this weekend. Thanks to everyone with interest so far, please bare with me, I don't want to shoot myself in the foot hear.
