Robert, Was great to see you at the track Friday. The car did run and sound great. Look forward to crossing paths in the future.
It was good to see you again Kevin. I only wish you'd had the occasion to run the DE as well.

Great thread and nice work. At 192K on my 86, I'll likely be facing the same thing this winter, though the engine still pulls great on the track.

But one question noone has asked you, from your first post- hows the shoulder doing?? I've been putting off the same surgery because I don't want to disrupt the summer track schedule. Priorities.

Thanks for asking. I'm doing well. The recovery was a lot better than the first shoulder. Perhaps because I knew what to expect. Perhaps because the damage wasn't as bad. (There was no full detachment on this side.) I finished therapy in five weeks. But that does not mean everything is 100% perfect. Lifting things overhead can be a bit tough, and probably always will be. On the other hand, I'm oodles better than before the surgeries. I can now lift my arms over my head, and no longer contemplate selling the 911.

Wow! I can't believe I completed this project so long ago. Time flies. Anyway, since I stumbled upon this thread, I thought I'd provide a long term follow up:

The car is running great. I had to replace the front seal a month after getting the car running again, but that was no big deal. I don't know if I installed it too deep, or the orange seals are junk, but a new black seal fixed the issue. To date there are no leaks. Oil consumption is nominal. Oh, and the upper throttle spring broke going into turn five last week....

In the passing year-and-some a few other projects have passed. Like installing H4s, race seats, and a roll-bar (see pics below.) For better or worse there's still oodles of projects left...
