LOOK what came in the mail today!
Check it out, got these in the mail today, delivered from Portugal! Originally found them on eBay, these 959 wheels are about $5000 each retail if you buy them from Porsche. Got them for about 20% of that. Used ones are just not to be found. They are made of magnesium, and are super-light for the size of the wheel. They have hollow spokes (I guess they used a lost-foam or lost-wax method of casting) for light weight, and also air distribution (I think). Manufactured by Speedline, the guys who made the Ferrari F40 wheels too. I bought these as spares, just in case something happens to one of the wheels. It's not as if you can slap a Fuchs alloy on this car - the car only takes one wheel, and only takes one tire that fits that one wheel. Now I have to start looking for a pair of fronts...

Nice catch! Are they original or aftermarket/replacement?
P.S. - I'll never complain about paying $3.50 for exhaust gaskets ever again... |

Just curious, how many people were bidding against you?

No one. The auction ended twice with no winners, and then I made a deal with him afterwards. Trouble is, he raised the price on me after the auction ended (something about the exchange rates), but what was I going to say? It's not like you see these at the Pomona swap meet all the time...

I paid $277 Euros to have them shipped here with full insurance via a "premium" method, whatever that means.

Are they for the front, rear or one of each? Are you looking for a full set?

there are still some amazing finds on eBay, great score Wayne.
While not even close to your deal, I got 2 complete rear Toyota quarters for my rusty 4Runner for 10% dealer cost the other day and shipped via Greyhound from Idaho for $80.

Nice!
But what about "only one sort of tire"? Is it metric tire or what is the problem with fitting any kind of tire on the wheel?

Ahh...I get it. I assume car doesn't have a spare so they made run-flat tire that's 959 rated?
Hmm...I wouldn't run it flat anyway (unless I got a flat in "sensitive" area) ![]() Great find!

What a difference a letter makes. "I got them at 20% of that" vs. "I got them at 20% off that".

Wayne,
Thanks for the update on your 959 adventure. Early on you were posting a lot of really interesting "stuff" here as you debugged this somewhat neglected, mistreated car. Are you still doing that in a location I am unaware of, or have you just gotten too busy with other things to continue? Maybe I missed the memo.... ![]()

Wayne, I thought you posted awhile back that you "found" a front and a rear at the factory?
