Hub Adapter - Please help

Hello all,
I'm having an issue installing the MOMO hub adapter on a 1974 911. I can slide it over the spline, but then there appears to be a little "lip" that it won't go past to get the adapter all the way on... Wrong adapter? That's what I thought until I bought the other one for 1974 MY, but it won't fit either.

If you haven't guessed, I'm a bit of a newbie, but I know how to do the basics and this seemed like it should be so easy. Also, I can't post pics of what I'm talking about b/c as luck would have it, I dropped my camera and now it's broken. What a day.

Sorry if this is vague and hard to understand, but I'll try to answer any questions. Help please?!?!?!?!?

Did you include the turn signal plate thing? IIRC, You have to attach it to the hub before sliding it on.

When was your car built ?

The steering column changed around 7/'74 :

Momo hub 0230 fits 911/912 models up to '7/'74

Momo hub 0231 fits 911/912 models '8/'74-'89

Crikey, how did miss this?!?!?!?

Done and done. Thanks for your help.

I'm guessing I'll be in touch with more simple questions as the upgrades continue.

And FYI: The car, by my records, was purchased in the early months of 1974, but the adapter for "up to 7/74" was incorrect. The other hub for the later months is what is now on the car. Go figure.
