ck this out. will take awhile to download but worth the wait if you're currently combating rust. it'll actually be a huge sigh of relief.

A 912 in that condition is only worth the parts that can be sold. 1) I don't even know HOW you'd fix that kind of rust, what's more, it looks like a prime candidate to crack in half while you're driving down the road. It would be a lot more to fix than it'll ever be worth. Too bad.
Ferraris like the one in abandoned shed are worth going to any length to fix, but this car--dunno. And the engine isn't really worth much either, it's just a four banger isn't it? ------------------ Kurt B '84 Carrera Cab. carrera_cabriolet@yahoo.com |

Wow. On the plus side, it must have solid rockers. What else could be keeping it from folding in half?
I like that speaker just suspended there where the inside of the door should be. Good tunes, the roar of the road beneath you... |

It should corner real well with the concrete floorboards, and the low center of gravity.
HA HA Just goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover. |

On the bright side, it's a hell of a lot easier for us tall people to get into....
![]() Can you imagine going to view this car at the seller's place and opening the door??? I looked at a 914 that was pretty rusted out and the seller claimed "No, there isn't any rust anywhere." What do you call those holes in the trunk, then? Ventilation? Lightening? This 912 ad is a poster child for "truth in advertising". ------------------ blue '81 SC Targa [This message has been edited by BlueSkyJaunte (edited 04-04-2001).] |

I actually looked at a 914 one time; if you opened both doors, the car folded in half. That's a nice car for ya. But if you're thrifty and tough enough you can just weld the doors shut and hop in ala spyder style. Who needs doors anyway.

![]() Can you say "parts car?" I thought my '66 was rusty-at least it's still got floors! That gaping hole in the passenger side rear seat well looks real familiar, though-both of mine were like that-and the hole under the pedal box was big enough to put your foot through.I can't believe the reserve of $1000, though-half that, MAYBE. They'd get a lot more by just parting it out. ------------------ Clay McGuill '66 912, '97 Jeep Cherokee www.geocities.com/the912guy |

"Rust free classic" (buy the car, the rust comes free).
Actually, that car doesn't really have much rust on it at all. I don't see any rust on the floorpans at all, except maybe around the edges a bit. If that were my car, I'd flip it over and use it as a convertible. |
