Post Picture from Performance Handbook

Hi guys,

There is a picture in the back of Bruce Anderson's performance handbook of a 1967 Porsche 911 that some guy turned into a speedster. Does anyone know if there are any other pictures of this car around? I think it's the coolest looking customization of Porsche I've yet seen.

Thanks,
GruvSyco

I agree 100%. I've toyed with the idea of starting that project... in the future. I suppose an early targa would be the perfect roller to start from. I'd like to see more photos as well.

I'm reading an article on that very car right now in 911 & Porsche World #31 January/February 1996 p.36-41. It is gorgeous.

If you like I can try and scan the photos and article?

Cheers

I've scanned the article and photos to a Word document for attachment to an email. Any one who wants it, just email me and I'll send it to you, unless anyone can show me a better way to to make it available to you (I don't have a website, and Im not sure the text will be readable enough)

GruvSyco and Rufblackbird, check your emails!

Cheers

Well, as an after thought, I checked the back of my "Performance Handbook", and it is clear that they are two different cars. But the one I'm refering to is still very pretty, and quite close to the one in Anderson's book. Sorry if it wasn't exactly the car you were after GruvSyco

John, Don't apologize for posting that picture! Long live the Long Hood! BTW does anyone recall the article Sports Car Int. did back in '90 on a 959 that was converted (after the origional owner's mistake) to a convertible and a speedster?

Cool

Different car, but on the topic of Speedsters...This is one nice car--everything is factory...started as a theft recovery speedster. I am thinking of doing one of these for my next project.

Notice the Boxster rollbar--pretty cool

I love the Golf colors on any Porsche!

The speedster conversion in question was in a old VW/PORSCHE magazine before the were renamed to EUROPEAN CAR. I will see if i can find the article this weekend. If memory serves me right, the car is actualy a 912 and used an original 356 windshield and frame. More information to follow if possable.

Fishcop:

Thanks for the article I looked at it briefly before work this morning. It is definately a different car. This one looks as if it is a more recent speedster converted to look like an older Porsche. The car I was referring to looks as if it has the 356 speedster front windshield.

David:
If you can find that article that would be super. The picture in Bruce's book definately says "67 911".

I tried searching for it using the various information from the article. I found several references to Stan Townes (I think that's right, I don't have the book in from to of me now) that races SCCA events here in the Bay Area. I'm curious if it's the same guy. That picture was taken at the 1971 Oakland Hot Rod Show.

Euro,
Actually, I dug out that issue and re-read it. What an issue! 917, 959 C-4 and tuner turbo! ( I save old car mags. Don't tell my wife)
